Sunbury rescue crews had their work cut out for them as wild winds lashed Victoria last week.
State Emergency Service workers responded to more than 20 calls for help, and also sent six volunteers to assist Brimbank SES throughout the state’s west.
The majority of the call-outs were for building damage, fallen trees and trees over roads.
The most unusual job concerned a trampoline that blew on to the roof of a property in the Ashfield estate.
Sunbury SES spokesman Jarrod Bell said crews and volunteers worked tirelessly for nearly 12 consecutive hours.
“As a result of a major wind storm event across Melbourne, SES across the state received more than 3000 calls for help as a result of this wind,” Mr Bell said.
“Sunbury SES operations commenced at 10am with final crews returning to Sunbury headquarters at 9.30pm.
“At its peak, Sunbury emergency services had all five vehicles in our fleet and more than 30 highly trained volunteers in the field with an incident control point located at the headquarters assisting the Sunbury community.
“Thank you to all the volunteers who responded and gave up their Sunday to help protect the Sunbury community.”
The Macedon Ranges also experienced high winds, with the Gisborne SES removing trees from roads and driveways.
