Never too old to get on ya bike

You’re never too old to learn a new skill … that’s the message from Macedon Ranges resident Trish McNamara.

Ms McNamara took up cycling lessons through the Woodend Neighbourhood House a year ago, hoping to master the skill before her 65th birthday earlier this year. The ‘House’ offers a range of courses and workshops for people wanting to learn something new.

Ms McNamara says she had neither ridden nor owned a bike as a child and wanted to learn to cycle confidently. She spent eight months venturing out on weekly rides with a House group so she could achieve her goal of cycling to Hanging Rock to celebrate her 65th birthday.

She completed the 23.5-kilometre ride and continues to cycle with the group, which can be contacted here or on 5427 1845.
