Legendary singer Bruce Springsteen might sing about being Born in the USA, but he clearly has a special bond with the Macedon Ranges.
The Boss will return to Hanging Rock with the E Street Band on February 11 next year as part of their Summer ’17 tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Springsteen wowed 34,000 adoring fans during two sell-out concerts at the iconic Rock in March 2013, and is the only act to have performed back-to-back concerts there.
Macedon mayor Graham Hackett said it was testament to how special Hanging Rock is as a venue that the singer would choose to return to the Macedon Ranges.
“Bruce’s concerts last time were incredible,” Cr Hackett said.
“He definitely provided value for money, performing on stage without a break for nearly three hours.”
The flow-on economic benefit to the regional community from the previous two Springsteen concerts was estimated at about $9.7 million.
Popular Australian rock band Jet, which will re-form for the concert tour, will be The Boss’s special guests, along with guitar legend Diesel.
Pre-sales are now open online at www.frontiertouring.com/brucespringsteen until Wednesday (September 21).
