Let the festival begin …

Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival starts a two-week program jam-packed with activities, visual and performing arts, crafts, open gardens, flower shows, markets and country hospitality. Spring Starts Here is the motto. It all begins on Thursday, September 1, at venues both in town and ‘out in the wild’ until September 11.

Sunbury garden lovers

Sunbury Garden Club’s next meeting is on September 7 and guest speaker will be Geoff Crowhurst. It’s all happening at 7.30pm at Rainbow Court Hall, Timmins Street. Entry $3 includes supper. All welcome.

Wonders of spin

Works at the Kyneton Handweavers and Spinners exhibition go on sale on September 3. It’s on at the Red Brick Hall, Yaldwyn Street West from 11.30am until 1.30pm.

Market to market

Check out Sunbury Village Market now on at the Village Green every second Saturday of the month. Next market is September 10 and there’ll be an eclectic mix of stalls, food, coffee and children’s entertainment. New stalls welcome.

Provoking reactions

Australian provocateur Rod Quantock is up to his old tricks again, bringing his successful show Boredom Protection Policy to Kyneton town hall on Friday, October 7, at 7.30pm. The much-lauded stand-up comedian will turn his sharp gaze and unwavering wit to the headlines – reflecting on contemporary politics and Australian society as it happens. Expect a new perspective on all issues of the day.

Immunisation time

Immunisation sessions at Gisborne, Kyneton and Woodend are on the first Thursday of the month, and at Riddells Creek and Romsey on the third Tuesday. Next session is September 1, 9.15-10.30am.

Doris and Shirley show

Explore the music of two grand dames of the musical world, Shirley Bassey and Doris Day, as performer Gina Hogan takes to the stage in Night and Day: the Doris and Shirley show on Friday, September 23, 11.30am at Kyneton town hall.
