Kyneton Playgroup’s album puts fun into fundraiser

Preschoolers from Kyneton Playgroup aren’t so much singing for their supper, but for a brighter future.

The musical talents of children are being recorded ahead of the release of a new album, with the money raised going to the non-profit organisation’s programs and to help engage kids from socially isolated and at-risk families.

Also featuring professional musicians Jed Palmer, Zoe Barry and Rexine Perry,

Kyneton Playgroup Sings: Songs for Kids will be released at the Kyneton Music Festival in October.

Playgroup president Carmen Eastman says the project represents a fresh approach to fundraising.

“Funding is always a consideration,” she says.

“We must consider innovative ways to raise funds.”

For the kids, it’s also great fun.

Perry, a renowned theatre performer whose children attend sessions at the St Andrew’s Uniting Church hall, was herself part of the group as a child.

“Old Kyneton still exists and we feel a great responsibility to ensure that those values keep living,” she says.

Digital copy $6, CD $15. Business donations also accepted. More details: goo.gl/ClfHUD
