Rare beer coasters form bright display

Bright, colourful and sometimes outrageous beer coasters from bygone eras are on show as part of a new exhibition at Kyneton museum.

Hundreds of coasters collected by Kerrie resident Jacky Kelly and Drummond North’s Terry Moore form the bulk of items on display, which also includes rare matchboxes.

Macedon Ranges mayor Graham Hackett says Coast to Coaster is a great chance to look at a unique style of advertising that has become somewhat homogenised in recent times.

‘‘There seem to be fewer of them, and they’re certainly not as outrageous and as colourful as they once were,’’ he says.

‘‘I suspect Coast to Coaster will jog more than a few memories.’’

The exhibition is open from 11am-4pm every Friday-Sunday until June 26. Details: 1300 888 802
